Press Release Summary: M1000 Modular DSL Router is the industry's first modular DSL residential modem/router
Press Release Body: Sunnyvale, Calif., April 7, 2008 - Actiontec Electronics today announced that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC) named the company's Modular DSL Router (M1000) a 2007 Product of the Year winner from Unified Communications magazine. In its first annual product of the year awards, Unified Communications honors the products and companies that have brought ground-breaking advancement to UC technologies over the past year.
The Modular DSL Router enables operators to supply all customers with the same low-cost base unit and then add user-requested upgrades with simple snap-in modules including wireless networking, 4-port Ethernet switch for wired networking, a HomePlug AV adapter for powerline networking, and a VoIP adapter. The base unit is a one-port Ethernet/USB ADSL2+ router incorporating two USB-like connectors. Users can simply snap in the module adding additional services with simple plug-and-play technology eliminating the need for additional bulky boxes, cables, or hard to navigate installation software.
This modular strategy also reduces costs by enabling service providers to meet the needs of all customers without maintaining inventory, training technicians or providing technical support for multiple customer premise devices. In addition, having a single expandable product eliminates end-user equipment swapping when customers require additional functions.
"Unified Communications magazine bestows Product of the Year awards on companies that have demonstrated excellence in technological advancement and application refinements. These winners have demonstrated to the editors of Unified Communications that their products or services have gone the extra mile to help improve both the customer experience and the ROI for the companies that use them," said Rich Tehrani, TMC President and Group Editor-in-Chief of Unified Communications. "Actiontec deserves this great honor for driving industry innovation with their M1000 Modular DSL Router."
"It is an honor to be recognized by Unified Communications in their inaugural awards. In line with the quality publications TMC has developed over the years, this award shows just how technology is changing the way people connect and collaborate," said Brian Henrichs, VP Business Development at Actiontec Electronics. "The innovative modular design of this router provides the end-user with a variety of options in a simple, easy to snap in plug-and-play way - making it easy for the consumer to add functionality themselves and helping operators provide cutting edge products without having to maintain and support complicated equipment."
